Prepare the paste
Grind the carbon recovered from a zinc-carbon battery until you obtain a fine powder. Mix a teaspoon with a little toothpaste and a few drops of white vinegar. The texture should be sandy but easy to spread.
Clean the headlights
Wash thoroughly with soapy water, then dry with a clean cloth.
Sand gently (but methodically)
Dampen the headlight, then start with 600 grit sandpaper. Gradually move to 1000, 1500, and finally 2500 grit. Always use smooth, even strokes and keep the surface wet to avoid scratching.
